WHOOOEE!!! FUN IN NEW ORLEANS

Pulled into the Big Easy in a serious rain storm; dodged tornadoes on the drive from Lake Charles and set up camp at the FQRV (French Quarter RV) park which is just 4 blocks north of Bourbon St. Shelly and the gang arrived in the evening and we had a great dinner at Gallatoires, a legendary restaurant on Bourbon St. Next two days filled with fun at Cafe duMonde (see pix of Clark), Hurricanes at Pat O'Briens, brunch at the Court of Two Sisters, a great last night dinner at the Bourbon Court Restaurant and of course a great day at the Jazz Festival.

We're in West Memphis, Arkansas today (across the Mississippi from Memphis, Tennessee.) Tom Sawyer RV park is literally right on the river and we have enjoyed the morning watching the huge barges go up or down river. The Zydeco Bandwagon is about 30 yards from the river and the mutts are having a great time. On the 6 hour trip from New Orleans yesterday we went through a 1/4 mile stretch of freeway where a tornado had hit and it looked like something out of another world. We did not have a chance to take pictures of it because it came on us so quick...the 60-100 foot trees were broken like tooth picks and the entire stretch of land where it had cut through was leveled, like bulldozers had been working on it for weeks. Location was in the middle of nowhere but it showed how arbitrary and devastating those type of storms could be. Headed for Graceland today (Thank you, thank you very much) and some BBQ in Memphis. Tomorrow we head west. Stay tuned!
